Work Permits & Visas
  • EU/EEA citizens may work in Greece without a visa or work permit
  • Non-EU nationals require:
    • National long-stay Type D work visa
    • Residence permit for dependent employment upon arrival
  • Alternative permits include:
    • EU Blue Card for highly skilled professionals
    • Intra-Corporate Transfer (ICT) permit (up to 3 years)

Payroll
  • Payroll frequency: Monthly, paid at month-end or early the following month
  • Taxable earnings include:
    • Salary, bonuses, overtime, allowances, benefits in kind
  • Employer social security contributions (approx. 21.79%):
    • Pension, health insurance, supplementary insurance, unemployment
  • Employee social security contributions (approx. 13.37%):
    • Pension, healthcare, supplementary insurance, unemployment
  • Contributions are capped at prescribed monthly income threshold
Employment Contracts
  • Contract types: Fixed-term or open-ended
  • Probation period: Typically 6 months
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
  • Overtime: Up to 48 hours per week, paid at 120%
  • Minimum wage: €880 per month
  • Notice periods: 1–4 months depending on years of service
